LIFE IN BEAUTIFUL DELAWANDA
We are fortunate to live in this lovely neighborhood that somehow manages to maintain a balance between being very close to road and business density and a natural peaceful forest-like setting. There is an abundance of interesting architectural styles and wildlife and people including musicians (rock! jazz! classical! folk!), teachers, professors, poets, actors, writers, painters, dancers, scientists, engineers, mimes, soap makers, bakers, gardeners, health professionals, and many more! We can walk to numerous places nearby for just about everything and there is a year round exercise path outside our front door, and public transportation is accessible and frequent (there are currently 5 daily COTA bus routes stopping at Morse and High).
Over the years the neighborhood has successfully helped to guide and provide input on emerging projects that may impact us, and we have promoted communication and neighborliness in multiple ways, including through the Delawanda Residents Association (DRA), our neighborhood civic association.
Throughout the decades Delawanda has enjoyed many neighborhood events and activities including holiday progressive dinners, neighborhood cleanups/planting and helping neighbors who may need assistance with yard work, ice cream socials, block parties, music performances, fall parties, and neighborhood yard/garage sales. To make these things happen requires volunteers to organize and support them, and the DRA is very interested in finding out more about potential neighborhood events and activities that would be enjoyable and beneficial as well as who might be interested in volunteering to be on a committee, host an event, or otherwise contribute to the process. Please check back soon for an update to the website that will include a form to provide details such as where you live in Delawanda, contact information, and what you might be interested in doing to help.
